Famara Beach: Surfing Lesson

Famara Beach in Lanzarote is the setting for a two-hour surfing lesson that needs no previous experience. The sandy shoreline gives this session its focus: getting onto a board and working towards riding coastal waves with professional instruction.

Build the skills to catch a wave

The lesson covers paddling, popping up onto your feet, balancing and reading waves. Start with basic paddling techniques and balance drills in gentle whitewater before progressing towards deeper ocean waves. You’ll practise the movement from lying on the board to standing, then work on riding incoming waves towards the beach. Wave etiquette and water safety guidelines form part of the instruction, alongside the physical skills needed to handle the board.

Practise in a small group

Groups have a maximum of eight participants per instructor. Follow the instructor’s guidance while practising at your own pace, with time to work on the fundamentals rather than needing to arrive with established skills. Instruction is available in English, Italian and Spanish. The session combines expert guidance with hands-on practice in the water, putting the techniques into use as you learn.

Surf equipment and beach transport included

A surfboard, wetsuit and lycra are provided, so you do not need to bring your own surfing equipment. Training uses durable foam boards for practising the basics. Beach transport and insurance coverage are also included in the lesson. Food and drinks are not included.

Arrive before the lesson begins

Arrive at 13 Avenida el Marinero 45 minutes before the start to collect your wetsuit and head to the beach. Allow for this preparation time in addition to the two-hour lesson. Lanzarote Surfing provides the activity, and tickets are delivered instantly with smartphone tickets accepted.
