Additional Information & Description
Palazzo Venezia brings around 800 years of applied arts into one of Rome’s most impressive palaces. Its museum collection ranges from prints and ceramics to furniture, paintings and sculptures, giving the visit a breadth that extends well beyond the building itself. This reserved-entrance ticket also opens the doors to two further attractions, connecting the palace visit with Italy’s unification and views over Rome.
A palace at the centre of political history
Palazzo Venezia has served as a papal residence and, later, as the seat of the fascist government. Those changing roles give the building a significance beyond its museum displays. Mussolini’s famous balcony belongs to this political chapter: it was from here that he addressed the people. The palace also has a garden hidden within its walls, adding a distinct outdoor element to a visit otherwise centred on the building and its collections.
Italy’s unification through objects and art
Entry to the Museo Centrale del Risorgimento, or Central Museum of the Risorgimento, brings the story of Italy’s unification into focus. The displays explore the Risorgimento through memorabilia, paintings, sculptures, drawings and weapons, taking the visit into the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These different forms of evidence give you more than a single artistic perspective: the museum brings visual representations and historical objects together within the same subject.
